Morse Institute Library: Computer Resources: Wireless Connection

If you have a laptop computer, you can now borrow a wireless card at the Reference Desk on the Library’s Second Level.

New Connections:

Present your library card and the reference staff will check out a “Wireless Kit” to you.
Follow the instructions on the inside of the kit for installing the software and card.
After installation the laptop should detect the “MORSE” network.
Log on to the Internet.

If you already have a laptop with a wireless card:

Turn on your laptop and check in “NETWORK NEIGHBORHOOD” that the TCP/IP setting is set to “obtain IP address automatically”.
Your wireless card should detect the “MORSE” network.
Log on to the Internet.

Things to Know:

The wireless network provides access to the Internet through the Minuteman Library Network homepage.
If you use the Minuteman databases you will be logged in as a “Home Access” user rather than an “In Library” user.
As all laptop computers are different, the Library cannot take responsibility for problems associated with installing new software or hardware. In addition, librarians are not available to assist with installation.
The Library recommends that you have updated anti-virus software before connecting to the Internet.
