Getting a Library Card
Adult Library Cards
Library cards are available to any Massachusetts resident, with a photo ID and proof of Massachusetts address. Your first library card is free; replacement cards are also free. Visit the Circulation Desk to apply for a card.
Acceptable photo IDs include:

Driver’s license

Passport
-
School ID
-
Work ID
-
State ID
-
Sam’s Club or BJs card, etc.
The following are acceptable for address verification:
- Massachusetts driver's license with current address

Checkbook with current address

Utility bill
-
Lease or mortgage documents

Mail forwarded by the Post Office (with their yellow forwarding label)

Address verification postcard provided by the library
We cannot accept hand-addressed personal mail for address verification.

Childrens' Library Cards
Any child who is at least 5 years old and can print his/her first and last name may apply for a library card. A parent or guardian with identification as described above must accompany the child to the Children’s Desk to sign the application.

Young Adult Library Cards
Young adults (teens) may get a library card at the Circulation Desk. Teens who do not have a photo ID must be accompanied by a parent or guardian with identification as described above.
