Computers & Technology
The Morse Institute Library provides free Internet access and Wifi to our patrons. The library has 3 photocopiers, 2 computer printers, 2 microfilm readers and 1 scanner available. There are CD listening stations on each floor that allow up to 4 people to listen to a CD together.
The library also has several tools to assist patrons with disabilities, including visual magnifiers and sound amplifiers.

Library Catalog Computers
Library Catalog computers are available on all 3 floors of the library. You can use them to find books and other materials both in the library and online.

Minuteman Catalog - Find out whether book and other materials are available in the library or elsewhere in the Minuteman network.

Databases - Find newspaper, magazine and encyclopedia articles, genealogy resources and more online.

E- Journals Finder - Search for online versions of popular magazines and newspapers.
Catalog computers on the second floor are able to print. Catalog computers on the first floor and lower level are not connected to printers.
Internet Access
The library has computers with Internet access on the second floor. You need a Minuteman library card and PIN number to log in. If you do not have a card or do not wish to use your card, you may purchase a visitor pass for 25¢.
Due to the high demand for Internet access, the library offers one-hour sessions on the following computers:

You may also access the Internet using your own laptop and our wireless network.
Library staff is available to assist you with the Internet. However, staff cannot guarantee expertise in every site, program, or problem encountered online.

Wireless Access
The library offers free wireless access. Printing is not available from the wireless network.
To connect, bring your laptop to the library. Select Morse1, Morse2, MorseB, or MorseM from the available wireless networks, and open a browser. If you are unable to connect to one of our wireless networks, you may borrow a network cable from the reference desk.
The library cannot take responsibility for installing new software or hardware on your laptop. Make sure that you have updated anti-virus software before connecting to the Internet.
Microsoft Office Software
Microsoft Office 2007 is available on the Internet computers on the second floor and on the computers in the Cognex Computer Lab.
Reference librarians may be able to assist with simple Microsoft Office questions. If you are a beginner looking for more in-depth help, see our list of nearby computer classes.

Printers and Photocopiers
The library has 2 printers available to the public. Black-and-white printing costs $.15 a page and color printing costs $.50 a page. Printing is available from the computers on the second floor.
A black-and-white photocopier is available on each floor of the library. All copiers can make double-sided copies. In addition, the copier on the second floor will collate and staple. Copies cost $.15 a side.
Scanners
The library has 1 scanner, which is attached to a computer (PC "Hotel") with Internet access. The scanner computer is available with a library card and PIN number, or with a visitor pass. After you log in to the computer, press any button on the scanner to bring up the scanner menu. Then you can adjust the scan options.

Microfilm Readers
The library has 2 microfilm readers with printers attached. Printing costs $.15 per page.
CD Listening Stations
The library has 4 CD listening stations. They play music, audiobook, and mp3 CDs. You can slow down or speed up the sound for easier listening.
There is one listening station on the first floor. On the second floor, the listening station in the Henri Prunaret Room has a single headphone jack and the one in the Young Adult Room may have up to 4 headphones attached at a time, so that several people can listen to the same CD together. The listening station on the lower level has 4 headphone jacks as well.

Children's Computers
The Children's Room has two kinds of computers: Internet computers and Mac computers.
Internet Computers
Two PCs are available. Children may sign up for 30 minute slots.

Two iMac computers with games are available. Children may sign up for 30 minute slots.
